Learning to fly

(Víctor Lemes)

The one thing I would really want to do
For you, is to fill in the emptiness
You have inside with something else
Rather than cigarettes.

My supermarket bags are not as heavy
As the feelings you've held within you,
All that burden you carry over your shoulders.

I would like you to wipe away your shame
Of your smile, your hair, your eyebrows.

You see, I would care for you
Not only of you, like the others intend to do.

Oh, the irony of my life; I shall teach you a way,
So you can reach the only place you like:
The sky.

That is my gladly sacrifice,
For your dream matters to me
More than mine.
